🍽️ 5 dozen

🥘 Ingredients

  • Combine the following three and let sit 5 minutes:
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 Tbsp. yeast
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 cups scalded milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 squares soft margarine
  • 10 cups flour (approximately-add more until dough no longer sticks to bowl)
  • 3/4 Tbsp. salt
  • 6 eggs (beaten)

📝 Instructions

  1. Add milk to sugar and margarine. Beat eggs. Add yeast and 1 stp. sugar to warm water. When margarine and sugar are dissolved, add egg and yeast. Fill sifter with flour and salt. Beat enough flour into milk mixture until firm enough to knead. Knead enough flour into mixture to make a soft, smooth dough. Put dough into greased bowl. Let rise until double in size. Divide dough in 6 balls. Roll out ones ball into a circle. It should be about 3/4 in thick. After it is rolled, spread liberally with softened butter or margarine. Slice the dough into pie shape (triangles). Usually makes about 12-16 triangles. Starting with wide end, roll the dough into a crescent shape. Place on cookie sheet covered with parchment paper and then cover the rolls with plastic wrap. Let rise again (about 30 min). Bake at 375 degrees until golden brown--approximately 12-14 minutes.
